Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Crossover Announced

From ComicBook.com

image.jpg

DC Comics and IDW Publishing are teaming up for a six-issue miniseries kicking off in November starring two of their biggest superhero properties: Batman and the Heroes in a Half Shell. Sure, he's fought the crocodile monster living in the sewers and mutated Man-Bats, but can he team up with the Turtles from underground, too?

In the simply titled Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, jointly published by the two companies, the TMNT and their villain Shredder get transported to an alternate universe by General Krang. Here, in Gotham City, they meet Batman and clash with a series of his famous Rogue's Gallery while attempting to find their way home. James Tynion IV will write the series, with Freddie E. Williams II on art. TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman (and others) will provide variant covers.

This is probably the closest fans will get to a "Batman/Daredevil" crossover that was teased to no fruition a few years ago at various conventions. The TMNT originally started out as a parody of Daredevil, with their origin initially stemming from the same chemical that burned a young hero's eyes, then pouring into the sewer. Where Daredevil fought the ninja clan known as the Hand, the Turtles fought the Foot clan. Daredevil was trained by Stick, the Turtles trained by Splinter.

Tynion says that the book is "a fanboy dream come true," and loves looking at "the world of Batman through new eyes" in a press release. Stay tuned for more on this crossover as it approaches its November 2015 release.

Report: Affleck Will Write, Direct and Star in Stand-Alone 'Batman' Movie

From Complex.com

image.jpg

If you're not down with Batfleck, it's going to be a long ride, bat-fans. Deadline reports that Ben Affleck will co-write, direct and, of course, star in the next stand-alone Batman movie.

Affleck will reportedly team up with Geoff Johns, DC Comics' chief creative officer, to write the script. Johns is a DC legend at this point, having written for many of the company's premiere titles (Batman included) as well as writing for TV's SmallvilleArrowThe Flash and the new Supergirl

The next Batman stand-alone film is a long ways off, though. First, Batfleck will make his debut in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in early 2016 and will later appear in Justice League in 2017.

Affleck is also set to start production on his next directorial project this November, an adaptation of the Prohibition-era crime novel Live By Night, set in Tampa's Ybor City neighborhood.

Look for more Batman news to come out of Comic Con in San Diego this week, where Affleck is expected to make an appearance.

Norman Reedus Says The Walking Dead Season 6 Is Particularly Complicated

From ComicBook.com

image.jpg

Just when you thought things might get a little simpler on The Walking Dead... Wait... You probably never had that thought. And if you did, you were wrong.

The upcoming sixth season of AMC's hit series based on the Image comics series written and created by Robert Kirkman will apparently be, "particularly complicated," according to Norman Reedus who plays fan-favorite character, Daryl Dixon.

"There’s lots of action and lots of drama and lots of sadness like we always bring, but this season’s particularly complicated," Reedus told Nerdist. "The storylines are really interwoven with future and past. Certain things happen, and you’re kind of like, 'Wow, that just happened.' Then you’ll find out episodes later why that happened and what that meant. [Executive producer] Scott [Gimple]’s so good at planning for the future and taking little things and making them mean big things later. And you go, 'Oh, that’s what that means…' A real mature sort of storytelling has really taken us over right now. It’s super interesting and super thrilling."

So, The Walking Dead: Days of Future Past is certainly upon us in October. Showrunner Scott Gimple recently opened up about how the first half of season six will thicken the backstory with storytelling which could almost be considered a prequel. Pairing Gimple's words with Reedus' claim about the story becoming complicated sounds like a head scratching run of episodes is approaching.

As for what the first half of season six will explore in terms of backstory, it's likely Alexandria's roots, the Wolves, and perhaps the infamous Saviors from the comics. Not to mention, we have no idea what Morgan's journey has been like, not only on his march up the east coast but morally, which made him value all life.

We'll know more about The Walking Dead and it's sixth season this Friday after The Walking Dead takes over San Diego Comic Con's 6,500 seat Hall H. For more on that, stay tuned to ComicBook.com!

Athena is meeeee!!!

It was great to run into you. Haha! Again, it's pretty cool you're interested in my nonsense. I love chatting about cosplay and gaming, sharing tips and tricks, and all that jazz...

I mostly do game characters because that's what I'm most passionate about for sure. BioWare and Gearbox are my babies. Lol! They are also amazing to their fans. I normally do a new costume every few months or so. I don't get to attend as many conventions as I would like due to finances, but we normally get out to one also every few months or so! I think my next one will be PAX Prime, unless I can some how magically squeeze Gen Con in.

Here are some of  my cosplays from Wizard World and also just a few of my favorites in. ;}

This is what I wore Saturday and it was thrown together in four days. My lovely gal pal and I both fell in love with Mad Max Fury Road, so thought doing this last minute was a fine idea. Weeeeee!!!! I'm dressed as Capable and she is the badass Furiosa! Her name is Fox Smith.

Photo by Toochie (he's my friend and doesn't have a page or anything and he hates the nickname Toochie, so imma roll with it.) Mwhahahaha...

I was Leliana from Dragon Age: Inquisition on Sunday. I've loved her since the first Dragon Age and was actually challenged by Allegra Clark (the voice of Josephine in Inquisition) to make her chainmaille ensemble, so I had to!

My favorite costume that I've done is my Demon Hunter from Diablo III. It was my first time using the thermoplastic worbla and also had the most rewarding end result. I won Best Female Hero with her at Wizard World STL last year.

Aaaand lastly, before this turns into a giant novel!!!! I entered a contest for Gearbox/2K and actually won for my character. I won a trip to PAX Prime last year and got to officially rep as Athena from Borderlands:The Pre-Sequel. It was pretty damn amazing and something I shall never forget. I made some amazing friends along the way!!! I also got to shoot with Darshelle Stevens, which was pretty insane.

Okay, I've rambled enough! Weeeeeeee!!!

I just wanted to take a brief moment to thank PippiStix! It was great meeting you and even better that you took the time to send us some of your cosplay's! Be on the look out for more PippiStix featured here at LivingTheNerdLife.com in the future we have some big things planned!

Thanks again! -Joe

Futurama POP! Vinyl Review

Who else here is a Futrama fan?! I know I am. It’s been one of my favorite cartoon series for years. Somehow, I liked it more than The Simpsons. Yes, I said it and will probably receive hate mail for it. But no matter, this isn’t about the show itself, but about the Pops! I recently added the whole line up to my collection (got them very reasonably off Ebay for anyone who’s looking for them).

image.jpg

These Pops almost seem the most fun out of all the ones I have. Let’s break each one of them down:

1. Fry – I think what he’s most noticed for his is hair flip in the front and his red jacket. Both details present and accounted for. However, he seems so basic. Nothing TOO special about his detail.

2. Bender – Bender is great! Oh Oh oh OH Bender is great! Admit it, you sang it because he does. I like that they gave his eyes a little attitude, as he’s always made in the funniest ways and wants to kill all humans. Plus, the beer bottle is a nice touch. If you watch the show, then you’re aware robots need alcohol to sustain life (don’t we need the same thing as humans to sustain sanity while in the work force?).

3. Leela – Not an Alien! She’s a mutant! Remember?! Anyway, has her signature white tank top, purple hair and big boots. However, just like Bender, she also has her one eye in a position that shows she’s not amused with your antics.

4. Robot Devil – One of my favorite characters. He’s supposed to be evil, yet Funko put the grin on his face. I think that’s the best feature on this one. He’s one of the happiest, evil characters I’ve ever seen!

I really love the details that go into Funko as a whole. Hopefully they do more of the Futurama characters. Frankly, I’d like aFunko Pop of Scruffy The Janitor. What do you think? Who from Futurama would YOU like to see?! Don’t forget to add me on Instagram - @lorneondrums – for more Funko fun!

Mobile Game of the Week: ZOMBIEBUCKET

image.jpg

Game: ZOMBIEBUCKET

Seller: ONE MORE LEVEL S.A.

Version: 1.0.3

Size: 28.9 MB

Rating: 9+ for the following: Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence

This week I bring to you another mobile game that helped get me through some down time while on vacation. Last week I brought to you a review on RAD Boarding, this week: ZOMBIEBUCKET! ZOMBIEBUCKET is like any other "Connect the same color/shape/object" game but with a bloody zombie killing twist. Your phone screen is your bucket and your bucket is envaded by hordes of zombies. Where these zombies come from is anybody's guess but it sure is fun killing them! The object of the game is to connect like-colored zombies to destroy them. The more you chain together the bigger the blood bath.

Here are my positives and negatives about the game:

Positive:

Gameplay // simple and enjoyable easy to pick up and play for a quick fix

Graphics // chubbie 8-bit square zombies that you pop or collect nothing that will blow your mind but it is easy on the eyes

Freemium // this is a free game with in-app purchases

Negative:

Freemium // running out of lives was the only downfall for me but I could have paid for more

What did you think about ZOMBIEBUCKET? I thouroughly enjoyed this game and too my surprise so did my wife. In fact on the flight back to Missouri she played it more than me. This is where my one negative about the game came in, running out of lives. Anyways I would love to hear what you thought about the game, let me know in the comments below.

SUPER HOT! Zombiebucket update coming soon!

Levi’s Recent POP! Acquisitions!

I’ll admit it. I have a fairly odd obsession with collecting the cute vinyl POP figures. The minimalist representations of pop culture figures are spread out throughout my house in a decorating scheme that would make Martha Stewart cringe in disgust and burn my house down. These are a few of my most recent acquisitions.

FIREFLY

First up from my wife and I’s favorite show are my wife’s complete set of Firefly figures. Funko did a great job of capturing the essence of the rag tag crew of the Serenity. The costumes are spot on and I love the inclusion of the little props like Wash’s dinosaur, Jayne’s Vera, and Zoe’s blunderbuss. Hopefully they release the rest of the crew in another wave I would even like to have some villains like Adelai Niska, a Reaver, Saffron/Bridget/Yolanda, or the Operative as a later set.

Hannibal

Brian Fuller’s Hannibal has been one of my favorite television watching experiences in the past few years and my nerdy collector instinct kicked into high gear when I heard that Funko was putting out cute little totems to the franchise! The straightjacketed Will Graham is my favorite figure in the set due to the iconic originality of the design that takes a great chunk out of one of the most heart wrenching moments of the show and places it squarely on my desk. The Hannibal Lecter figure is an exemplary representation of Mads Mikkelsons character, he appropriately sits in my kitchen. The Wendigo is also amazingly eerie and rounds out the figure set by adding a dose of the strange nightmare that juxtaposes well against the fairly “normal” looking set.

Though I do love the figures in the set my main problem is that their stances do not allow them to stand up very well. Especially Hannibal and the Wendigo whose very small feet are a little too close together to balance out their giant heads.. I understand that most people don’t even take them out of their boxes but I buy most toys to take them out and display them and these ones are a little too prone to tip over.

Another issue that I have with the set is that three out of the five in the set look a little too much like non descript normal people. The Jack Crawford and basic Will Graham (Not Pictured) just look like regular people that you would see on the street and don’t have a whole lot that really makes them, for lack of a better word, “pop.” Hannibal suffers from this same problem but benefits from having a very recognizable wardrobe along with the original way in which he wields his knife.

Uh Oh! Love Triangle!

Uh Oh! Love Triangle!

Ghostbusters!

The Ghostbusters were my favorite movies and cartoons when I was a kid and my two favorite characters were Peter Venkman and Egon Spengler. This is a really great set of figures with a lot of different variants. The Ghostbusters have some very cool and surprisingly well detailed proton packs on their back and each character is instantly recognizable.

My favorite figure is the adorable smiley Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. By far the coolest monster in the series. He stands a little larger than the average figure at 6 inches and is one of the centerpieces of my shelves of toys. For a long time I was on a search to recollect a lot of the classic Ghostbusters toys from my childhood but these POP! figures have helped put off that very expensive urge for a little while.

This series has a lot of cool variant collectible figures as well. The burnt Stay Puft, Shiny Slimer and Slimed Pete Venkman are really cool if you are willing to shell out a bit of a premium collectors price.

Attack on Titan!

The show Attack on Titan is primarily responsible for my new found love of anime and manga. When I saw this big guy in the store I couldn’t help but instantly buy him! Like the Marshmallow Man this figure stands tall at 6 inches and has a ton of detail all the down to his oddly well detailed butt cheeks. He looks really cool next to my Capsule Q Attack on Titan Figures and is probably my favorite POP figure to be realeased to date. I am super excited for the other two figures that I ordered from the set, Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman to arrive. I hope they put out even more Titans and members of the Survey Corps out in later sets!

Mikasa and Levi can’t stop the Colossal Titan from breaching the wall!

Jurassic World: Info & Brief NON-Spoiler Recap

image.jpg

Tonight the family got together to go see Jurassic World. Warrenton 8 Cinema and others theaters had early screenings tonight, Thursday the 11th. If you have read my latest post about Jurassic World you'll remember I was nervous about this movies advertising push would outweigh the movie. This was definitely not the case.

image.jpg

First off this is a NON-Spoiler review which means I'll be brief and vague until my full review within the next day or two.

Let it be known that Isla Nublar and Jurassic World have been up and running per the original dream of John Hammond. Jurassic World although thriving with 20,000 plus visitors in attendance while we watch the movie, cost of operations are rising. So they need to reinvigorate the park thus the hybrid Indominus Rex was created.

Jurassic World was very stunning and quoting John Hammond they "Spared no expense" with this park. If you're familiar with the first three installments of the Jurassic Park movies then you know every one of them start off with those "Oh Ah" Dr. Malcom moments. They never end the way it begins. This movie is no different. In the beginning they state that they want a Bigger, Louder dinosaur with more teeth. They sure got it with Indominus Rex.

All I'll say is that you have to have this movie on the "To See" list for this weekend and if you're busy this weekend make sure you get there next week. VeganVixen I'm talking to you! When you do go see it make sure to let us know what you thought!

Make sure to check back in for a full review of this movie and more later on.

Oh and yes, Mr. DNA is back! Wait... is this a spoiler? My bad.

"BATMAN V SUPERMAN" PROMO ART CALLS OUT "MAN OF STEEL" DESTRUCTION"

From ComicBookResources.com

Just like more than a de Superman fans, looks like the citizens of Metropolis weren't too happy about the way "Man of Steel" ended either. In a pair of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" promotional images found by Heroic Hollywood, the destruction of Metropolis gets called out in a big way in a defaced mock-up of a Superman poster. The phases "Help Rebuild Our City" and "Superman Destroyed Metropolis" can be seen stamped on the black and white image, with other phrases -- like "False God," which was also seen in the trailer -- scrawled on the poster in red.

image.jpg

The Batman one, on the other hand, features unusually positive messaging -- a surprise considering that the Dark Knight usually instills fear in everyone from criminals to the innocent. He even has a halo drawn around his Bat-ears.

image.jpg

This new dynamic will unfold on the big screen when "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens on March 25, 2016.

Chris Pratt & Jurassic World

This is finally the week. The week we have been waiting for since 2001 and the last installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. To be honest with you I didn't care much for 2 or 3 so really I have been waiting since Jurassic Park came out in 1993!

I am however a bit nervous about the movie and here is why. This movie has been advertised a lot lately. Every channel I flip too, every isle at the store has Chris Pratt on the cover of GQ promoting Jurassic World. Not all movies that push advertising this hard are bad, I'm sure this movie will be amazing. But there is that off chance that they push advertising so much that they get as many patrons as they possibly can into the theaters opening weekend before word of mouth spreads about how bad the movie actually is. Some examples: Anchorman 2 // Noah

Again not all movies that have this big of an advertising campaign are bad, most in fact turn out great and I'm sure this will turn out great as well. I'm just hoping that all the hype is matched by a great movie experience.

Do you agree? What are you thoughts? Let me know in the comments below!

Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor's interest, which backfires horribly.

-IMDb

Want to see Jurassic World before everyone else? Check out Warrenton 8 Cinema and their early release of the movie on Thursday, June 11th. First showing is at 7PM.

Marshawn Lynch Will Play a Villain in 'Call of Duty: Black Ops III'

From BleacherReport.com

image.jpg

In news so awesome that it will literally melt your brain, bring the gooey contents to a rolling boil and then throw the steaming grey matter back in your thoroughly rocked face, Marshawn Lynch will be starring in the next Call of Duty video game.

ESPN's Sam Alipour published a story Tuesday afternoon detailing Lynch's recent trip to the Activision Motion Capture Studio in Los Angeles, where his likeness and movements were recorded for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, the latest installment in the COD franchise.

image.jpg

This isn't a special-edition, downloadable content stunt either. Alipour writes that Lynch's character is going to be in the campaign:

In the year 2065, cybernetic advancements give rise to augmented human soldiers, a new breed of badass charged with preserving our way of life. Their mission leads them to a seedy bar in Singapore, where they encounter an underworld boss and his elite squad of mercenaries. Among them is a 5-foot-11, 215-pound battering ram of a man who's exactly like the world's most ferocious running back circa 2015: the Seahawks' Marshawn Lynch.

Alipour's story follows the Seattle Seahawks running back and his session at the Motion Capture Studio.

Lynch, a huge COD fan and avid player, gets his picture taken by 16 cameras in the glow of 6,280 LED lights ("Is this healthy?"). He dons a motion capture suit and tells developers to make his character authentic ("He better have dreads, gold teeth and my distinctive walk"). He shoots fake guns and loves every moment of it ("I'm fittin' to join the Army!").

MARVEL'S DAREDEVIL: JON BERNTHAL CAST AS PUNISHER FOR SEASON 2

From IGN.com

image.jpg

Per Marvel.com, Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal will portray Frank Castle - aka The Punisher, one of Marvel’s most popular characters. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.

image.jpg

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

Mobile Game of the Week: RAD Boarding

Game: RAD Boarding

Seller: Noodlecake Studios Inc

Version: 1.1.1

Size: 91.2 MB

Rating: Rated 9+ for the following: Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor

image.jpg

This past week while on vacation I was confined to mobile gaming. While I stuck with my normal Clash of Clans I also started playing RAD Boarding! RAD Boarding reminded me of an up to date Line Rider. Game play is similar however everything else about the game is brought up to date in graphics and styling! Here is what Other Ocean has to say about the games features:

FEATURES

SICK TRICKS

Show off your smooth moves as you ride out the apocalypse in style!

EPIC BOSS BATTLES

Face off against Tiny the Bear, a not-so-tiny circus bear that takes satisfaction from making you perform tricks.

RAD MODE

Perform tricks to fill up your RAD Meter and activate RAD Mode, where everything is more RAD! RAD Mode activates special power-ups including: Lava Slowdown and the Coin Magnet.

DEADLY TOMBSTONES

Unlock DEADLY tombstones and use them to show off your best distance in each level.

HELLA COLLECTION

Collect and pop frogs to unlock sweet collectibles and rare loot such as new costumes and 90’s style Milk Caps.

Let me get into what I thought about the game. Let's say my 3 plus hour flight and another 2 hour shuttle to the airport was filled with playing mobile games. Good thing I had my handy Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation Duo with me to keep me charged up. I have a few other reviews coming thanks to my stay in Jamaica and I can't wait to go over them with you however, RAD Boarding was one that I just couldn't stop playing. Here's why.

Positive:

Gameplay - Simple is key and nothing easier than tapping / swiping your screen

Freemium - Free to play

Graphics - Your RAD Boarder as well as the environment is very well done for such a simple game

Upgrading - Upgrading in the games keeps you boarding. From longer RAD duration to slower lava and even purchasing new levels

Negative:

Freemium - You do have the ability to pay for coins to make upgrading easier and faster

Tricks - Most tricks are simple however, some tricks require swipes back or down which may be interpruted as a tap and hold causing your boarder to slow or drop into a hill

Repetitive - You can upgradee and get new levels but its the same thing over and over this isn't a terrible thing but does get tiring after a while

Not much I didn't really like about this game if you have a few minutes here and there throughout the day I would definitely recommend it to you. Let me know what you think when you do!

Have you already played RAD Boarding? What did you think of it?
