So we get back from vacation and I was looking for a movie on Netflix to review... I've seen Snowpiercer on there for a few months now but there was something about the looks of it that turned me off. However, Sunday I finally gave it a shot. Let me first break down who some of the actors and actresses are in this movie.
First and foremost Chris Evans, yes the Human Torch & Captain America himself!
Ed Harris! I'll never forget him in the Abyss.
Ollivander from Ollivander's Wands & the Harry Potter franchise, John Hurt.
Plus many other notable actors and actresses!
Back to the review. From the beginning you follow a group of people on the Snowpiercer. What is the Snowpiercer? The Snowpiercer is a train created by Wilford built to sustain life in the cold, life on the Snowpiercer was the only life left on Earth. The Snowpiercer constantly travels around the globe on a global track built by Wilford. The Snowpiercer is segmented off by section, the further back you are the lower in the food chain you are.
You follow Curtis, Chris Evans, and a group of people living in the rear of the train. Their living conditions are horrible, no light except what is provided by the lighting on the train and they are far from clean. Curtis and a group of able bodies look to fight back against the powers that be. Guards make daily headcounts which you later find that its for population control on the train. There is only so much room on the Snowpiercer.
The most interesting part of this movie was seeing all the different sections as Curtis and his men push towards the front. From their dingy and dirty living quarters, to the water purification section, sauna, aquarium, first class, drug class, party class and then the engine room. All different, all unique and were very interesting. This was the main draw for me I was excited to see what section would come next! The only draw back to the movie, to me of course, is the ending. pretty awkward actually if you watch and think about it. Re-population may be a bit tough.
Anyways, I would definitely recommend checking it out. It has that future apocalyptic feel to it and Captain America is in it!
What did you think? What movies do you recommend on Netflix? Let me know in the comments below.
