I recently bought some of Under Armour’s new Alter Ego shirts as a reward to myself for consistently hitting the gym and working my pre super soldier serum body into something a little more like that of The Captain. Though I am nowhere near Chris Evans level of fitness, yet, I felt that a little splurge on myself was a good way to keep myself motivated when my head says “Go to the gym” but my heart says “Watch Netflix and eat pizza”. The following is a review of the two shirts that I purchased from this line of activewear.
Iron Man Compression Shirt
The first shirt that I absolutely had to have was the Iron Man compression shirt. Iron Man is my favorite Marvel super hero and wearing this shirt satisfies my inner cosplay nerd completely. This shirt is very form fitting and tapered for a more muscular, heroic look. The material is made out of Under Armour’s Heatgear fabric (84% Polyester 16% Elastane). The material feels very smooth and slick and does an excellent job of keeping me dry and cool while running.
I really like how the shirt shows off the gains I have made on my pecs, biceps, and triceps however I still have a little bit of a paunchy belly that I’m trying to work off and it really sticks out in this shirt. I wore this shirt on a short mile long run and I got complemented by a few skater kids in the park that I go through so that’s a good sign, I guess.
If you have been working out for a while I would suggest getting this shirt. It will make all the hard work that you have been putting in pop out and encourage you to keep up the good work. If you’re just starting out this shirt will really show off the areas that need work, definitely not for the self conscious, but if you’re channeling your inner Tony Stark you probably have a lot of confidence, right?
This shirt is also available in Captain America, Iron Man Mk III, Hulk, Thor, and Spiderman style. The Thor shirt looks epecially awesome with the armor look on front and cape on the back.
Finally the Alter Ego Avengers: Thor T-shirt is my favorite of the shirts that I got. The fit is much more relaxed and loose than the compression shirt and is a bit more appropriate to wear out in public. If you’re the kind of person that likes to run a few errands before and after the gym you may want to stick with this style. The material is the same Heatgear fabric that is silky smooth and breathable. I wore this to lift weights and the range of movement was nice and it is cut a little long on the body so your belly doesn’t show when you lift like some other shirts of the same size.
I’m a big of the graphics on both sides of this shirt! The Avengers Logo with the lightning bolt background looks cool and is a nice nod to the God of Thunder. The back graphic featuring Mjolnir looks like a really cool military crest and would make an awesome team logo.
This series has a few cool designs that all follow the pattern of a simple iconic logo on the front with a larger crest on the back. Besides Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and The Hulk are also available.
