The other night we went to check out 'Get Hard' starring Will Ferrel and Kevin Hart. Prior to watching it I've seen both actors on a big promotion push for the movie on shows like ESPN Sportscenter. I was nervous that the movie would be a let down with all the promotion they did for it, think Anchorman 2, a lot of hype but in the end didn't deliver. This time that wasn't the case.

Will and Kevin actually made a really good tandom in this movie. I wasn't sure what to expect but the complete opposite worked great here. With 2 big time comedians in one movie you would think that one would hog the spotlight a bit when it came to comedy but these two shared it very well. For those looking for a good laugh I would recommend it to you. Now there may be other movies out like Insurgent that I would tell you to go see before this one but to each his own really. Anyways before getting into the recap of the entire movie please look at the FYI that is next.

As a bit of FYI the movie is rated R so there were some swear words tossed about. Plenty of getting hard referneces as well as a weiner and some breasts. May not be the best choice to let your little ones go and see

Again please note that below is the almost the full synopsis of the movie if you don't plan on going to see the movie then this is for you. However if you do and don't want to read about any Spoilers it's time to find something else to click on.

The movie starts off by introducing us to James King, played by Will Ferrel, and his way better looking fiance Alissa, played by Alison Brie. James King is a very wealthy guy and it's obvious from the get go Alissa may be a bit of a gold digger. The movie establishes James Kings wealth right from the start with him having a luxurious home with the lawn care crew, maid service and his own Capoeria instructor.

The movie cuts to a scene of Darnell Lewis, played by Kevin Hart, and his family in a neighborhood that looks like you might get shot for walking out to your morning paper. Darnell a father and husband has one goal in the movie, save money to help move his family to a safer neighborhood but more importantly to a safer school for his daughter. Only thing holding him back for the move is $30,000 he would need for a down payment. From there you find out what Darnell does, he owns and operates Hollywood Luxury Bubbles. They actually wash cars in the parking garage of James Kings company.

Back to James King, you see a bit of his life as an investor and also find out the owner of the company he works for belongs to his fiances father. Her father Martin, played by Craig T. Lewis (better known as Coach), offers his new son-in-law partnership in his company which would lead to anything and everything he wanted in life. That night at an engagement party everything would change. But before that we had a special appearance in the movie. Alissa surprised James with a brand new electric guitar and John Mayer. John Mayer was there to perform for everyone where he said one of my favorite lines in the movie "Want to see how to make 100 girls wet at the same time?" and then he started singing his song Daughters. During James King' guitar solo a group of FBI agents come in and arrest him on 43 counts of fraud, laundering and tax evasion.

We jump to James King with his lawyer who pleads with him to take the plea of 1 year in prison, James refuses and wants the court system to go through its due process. Immediately following we see James in front of the Judge who throws the book at him, 10 years in the maximum security prison called San Quentin. He has 30 days til his booking. This is where the movie got fun.

Martin and his team of lawyers will be looking 24/7 to try and find out who lied about the numbers that show James King was guilty but in the mean time he looks for more help. Not help with finding out who did this to him but help for the inside and James turns to Darnell. Why Darnell? Because James assumes since he is black he has been to prison, his statistic was that 1 out of every 3 black males have been thrown into prison at one time or another. Seeing this as an opportunity to get $30,000 and help his family he offers to help James out, he'll just figure out the prison stuff as he goes along.

As the days count down, Darnell turns James' mansion into a make shift prison. The lawn care and maid service workers were more than willing to lock James up as a prisoner in his own home. His prison cell, the wine cellar, came complete with cot and 5 gallon bucket with one roll of toilet paper so simulate the real deal. During this process James is face with starting fights, simulating prison riots and one of the funniest scenes a prison yard figh.

Darnell starts to lose hope for James and while out to lunch he told him that he was going to have to learn how to suck a dick. ames easily caves and luckily for him they were at an establishment that was meant for gay men. The scene that follows was very awkward and there may have been a penis flash or two in it. Needless to say James couldn't do it and returns to Darnell who said if you can't do that then you have to put everything into Getting Hard. They proceed to say Get Hard quite a bit and were then given an ovation from the men there watching.

James starts working on his Mad Dog face, insults and keistering. He even hand made a series of shivs and gives one to Darnell for all of his help. y now time is almost up so Darnell reaches out to his cousin Russel for protection on the inside. James now called Mayo, short for mayonnaise, offers investment ideas if they sell 2 kilos of cocaine they could easily make$1.2 million dollars in a short amount of time. Next thing you know Darnell is the one out of place and Mayo now has a new love interest.

Since the protection idea didn't pan out Darnell starts to realize during this time frame that James didn't do anything. Putting the pieces together Darnell came to the simple conclusion that Martin was the man behind this whole thing. They attempt to steal Martin's original computer for the master file, proving James' innocence. On a failed first attempt they find the computer on Martins yacht. Mayo and Chocolate, Darnell's new nickname James gave him, spring into action. James executes the best Mad Dog face known to man and then out of no where becomes a Capoeira master taking out a group of guys on his own. Martin and Alissa offer James the opportunity to go away with them to his island, no one needs to go to prison you can still have everything you ever wanted. ames refuses and tries to go for the escape boat attached to the yacht.

Although his efforts were valiant to get the computer Martin, his daughter and his right hand man stop the escape. In an intense hold up between the 5 of them James said the FBI would be there any moment. Martin, a cocky fella said he was a man of action and called James bluff. After a moment of silence sure enough the FBI showed up where they ended up arresting Martin, his lawyer and right hand man. How did the FBI know where James was? He learned earlier in the movie that if you remove your new ankle bracelet they will hunt you down and find you.

In the end James still had to serve 6 months in prison due to carrying an unlicensed firearm thanks to Darnell's cousin. He started investing again and the best investment he could think of was Darnell and Hollywood Luxury Bubbles. The movie ended with another great quote from James as he got out of prison and Darnell came to pick him up. "I stayed hard in there thanks to you and when I got soft I thought of you and I got hard again."
