Tom Hardy Signs Deal for 3 More 'Mad Max' Films!

From ComicBookResources.com

image.jpg

Tom Hardy has signed on for three “Mad Max” films following director George Miller’s “Fury Road.”

“Everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived,” he told Esquire. “Inevitably it’s a business.”

Addressing the mettle and tenacity of his character of Max, a role originated by Mel Gibson, Hardy said, “You always wonder, why doesn’t he just top himself? [He] has humanity within him still, despite the hopelessness of his environment. He has no home and he has no hope, but he’s reluctant to give in.”

“I’ve never been more excited and out of my comfort zone,” he continued, referring to the pressure of living up to the role. Despite that, he called the film “fucking unbelievable.”

“We were in the middle of nowhere,” Hardy said of the film location. “so far away from the studio system that [Warner Bros] can’t really see what’s going on, and just getting things to and from the set was a nightmare. We’d lose half a vehicle in sand and have to dig it out. It was just this unit in the middle of x-million square-kilometers of desert, and then this group of lunatics in leathers, like a really weird S&M party, or a Hell’s Angels convention. It was like Cirque du Soleil meets fucking Slipknot.”

“Luckily nobody died,” he concluded after describing the car accidents caused during filming, despite the set’s extensive safety precautions.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” opens May 15.

Breaking Bad Funko POPS!

Hello all my nerds who are living the nerd life! I’m so excited to talk about my updated Breaking Bad Funko collection. Yes, indeed, this is another Funko review. I’m aware I may have an addiction to buying/collecting Funko’s. However, you keep reading about them. So what does that tell us? We All have problems I guess? Haha! Anyway, moving along…….

image.jpg

So, today I’m showing off the Breaking Bad Series of my collection. For Christmas, my big brother got me Walter White and Jesse Pinkmann as gifts as I was a big fan of the show. Since then, I’ve added to the series as well. A couple months later, adding Gus Fring and then as of recently adding Mike, Hank and of course Saul Goodman (BETTER CALL SAUL!). A little bit of a back story why I have these……….. I love the Breaking Bad Series! Actually that was a fairly short back story. Joking aside, my parents are to blame for sucking me in. I can recap exactly how this went down. My parents were just sitting down to rewatch the whole series because they followed it on TV, but now it was on Netflix. So they were going to power watch the entire series in a few weeks. They tried asking a few days prior if I wanted to join them, but declined at the time. So the night they started watching from Episode one, I had come into it about halfway through the episode and ended up getting hooked. SO they rewound the episode and started from the beginning. 2 and a half weeks later of binge watching Breaking Bad every night, we finished all 60+ episodes. What an AMAZING show. I highly suggest watching it!

(Quick Synposis: Breaking Bad is a show about a High School teacher who starts making meth with his partner who’s a previous student of his and their rise to the top of the drug world).

Anyway, back to my Funkos! Sorry for the side story / tangent. As usual, I’m always so excited about the detail. Funko has never disappointed in that aspect. The yellow hazmat suits, Saul Goodman’s unusual hair style, the half blown-off face of GusFring. I have the main characters in my line up right now. For whatever reason though, they are the only ones I can’t bring myself to remove from the box, lol. If you are a breaking bad fan, these are the collectibles you want to have around the house. If you are a Funko fan, watch breaking bad so you have an excuse to get these guys!

Thank you again so much for reading. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @lorneondrums for more Funko fun! I will be starting more giveaways very soon!

get some breaking bad gear!

Avengers: Ultron Forever #1 Review

image.jpg

It begins in the year 2420, the new incarnation of Ultron has destroyed the Earth's mightiest heroes.  He reigns supreme over not just Earth, but the entire Universe.  Doctor Doom has brought together several members of The Avengers from the past to assemble and battle the threat of Ultron.  In the future ruled by Ultron, the remaining humans have been turned into drones captured by Ultron himself.  The ones that remain are on the run from the menace.  Doctor Doom brings together The Avengers to take Ultron out in a series of multiple front attacks.

image.jpg

The story here is pretty straightforward.  Ultron has taken over the world and it's time for The Avengers to defeat the terror known as Ultron.  These facts don't take away from the story at all, though of course The Avengers are quite suspicious when Doctor Doom assembles them.  Vision is the voice of reason here as he knows that this Doom is not the original Doom.

The story progresses quickly and we are shown a future Captain America with a present day Vision and Black Widow being pulled from their time.  The inevitable confrontation between The Avengers and Doom is  a quite enjoyable read, particularly for the fans of The Avengers. The opening moments of the battles between The Avengers and Ultron's army are certainly entertaining.

image.jpg

The artwork is pretty standard fare in this issue.  Ultron is portrayed as menacing and the flooded, future version of New York City is well done.  The flooding of New York City is due to the effects of Global Warming.  Facial emotions are portrayed in a way that you can easily determine the desired emotion. The action sequences are done well and you don't have to guess what is happening.  In one panel, you see Ultron standing over fallen heroes and you may notice that RoboCop has been vanquished as well.  The Bio-Slaves are absolutely terrifying looking and Ultron's Avengers look impressive.  I was particularly impressed by the Bio-Slaves in this issue.

With the release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel is doing everything they can to get the general public ready and psyched for the movie.  And of course, they are getting us fans even more excited for the release.  With Ultron Forever and Rage of Ultron both out this week, and a little less than a month before the movie, they are going to milk this for all it's worth.  Can you blame them?  I mean I would.

If you're looking for something to pick up for a quick read, this will be it.  The action is fun and the artwork is good.  It's not going to make anyone's top issue of the year list, but it's well worth the price and time just for the fun of it.

Stephen Amell Tweets About TMNT 2 Role

From ComicBookResources.com

image.jpg

Stephen Amell will soon play another masked vigilante from comic book lore, according to Variety. The outlet reported Tuesday afternoon that the "Arrow" star has been cast in 2016's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" as Casey Jones, a popular supporting character in nearly every incarnation of the franchise.

image.jpg
Paramount declined comment on Variety's report. It's said that he secured the role due to his chemistry with Megan Fox, who returns as April O'Neil in the forthcoming sequel. Will Arnett is also slated to return, as Vern Fenwick.

Casey Jones -- a hockey mask-wearing crime fighter armed with various sporting goods used as weapons -- first appeared in 1985's "Raphael" #1, by franchise co-creators Kevin Eastmanand Peter Laird. The character was played by Elias Koteas in the first and third "Turtles" films, and voices by Marvel Studios' Captain America, Chris Evans, in the 2007 animated feature.

Directed by franchise newcomer David Green,"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2" is scheduled for release on June 3, 2016. Its predecessor, the first live-action "Ninja Turtles" film in more than two decades, was released last summer and earned $485 million in worldwide box office.

5 Predictions For 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

By Jesse Merkel

image.jpg

For those of you playing the home game, there is less than a year to go until Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters. It may feel like an eternity, but the echo chamber of the Internet will continue to churn out enough stories to keep us entertained.

Recently while re-watching Man of Steel, I took notice of the many subtle ways it was designed to set up the universe. As opposed to Iron Man, which was a great stand alone movie in 2008, but may be lacking in world building elements, especially when you consider it was designed to kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since the beginning, Marvel has relied almost entirely on their exciting post-credit sequences to tie things together. That’s fine for the episodic storytelling, but with the serialized format that DC appears to be going for, the tie-ins need to be a lot more involved. When you keep this in mind, Man of Steel starts to make a lot more sense.

Man of Steel wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, especially if they fell in love with the comedic and escapist style that Marvel has been crafting for nearly a decade. Instead, it set the stage for the DC characters in the modern and skeptical world. Instead of just accepting the fantastic as normal and enjoying the ride, we’re going to get a world with more rules and scientific explanations.

Here are five predictions for he upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

5. Superman Backlash

In Man of Steel, Superman basically gave a clinic on rookie mistakes. Yes he saved humanity, but the collateral damage was appalling. He failed to draw the bad guys away from populated areas, and probably cost the taxpayers nearly a trillion dollars in property damage.

A seasoned superhero would have done better, but in this new origin story, Clark was anything but seasoned. He had only begun to discover his power, and as a consequence, acted like a proverbial bull in a china shop.

This is going to be central to the plot of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The government may grow to trust him, or at least decide to take advantage of his abilities, but there will definitely be some who are suspicious of him. Chief among them will be Batman and Lex Luthor.

4. LexCorp is Bigger than Facebook

One of the main issues that people had with the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is that it was a clear indication that this take on the iconic villain would be nothing like Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey. Why? Because it’s 2015, and in this day and age, it’s the CEO’s of the younger and hipper companies that rule the world.

Eisenberg may not come across as physically intimidating, but he does look like someone who could sway public opinion with a speech at the TED Talks. Like those in charge of large young corporations today, we can expect this Lex Luthor to be a tech savvy master of media.

If he is indeed going to be one of the few helping to pick up the pieces in Metropolis under the guise of philanthropy, you can expect more than a few subtle jabs about ‘the alien’ when he speaks.

3. Batman is Public Enemy Number 1

By now we’ve all heard the rumors that Batman will be, at least in the first act of the movie, straddling the line between urban legend and government bogeyman. If it’s true that no picture or video footage has ever been taken of the caped crusader, it would confirm the indications that this incarnation will be a true master at the height of his crime fighting craft.

Whether it’s the government that nudges Superman to hunt down Batman, or Batman himself decides that Superman is far too reckless to continue unchecked, it would play into the mythos of Bruce Wayne being a true vigilante. They’re typically not popular with authority figures.

2. Batman Will Run Circles Around Superman at First

Superman is big, strong, and has all the powers that one could want, but he’s still young and inexperienced. He’s got a temper, and could be easily provoked. The more level headed and calculating Batman will be able to size him up instantly.

If you’ve read The Dark Knight Returns, Hush, or Tower of Babel, you’ve seen Batman’s methodical strategy at work against Superman. Not only does he know how to get inside Superman’s head, but he’s also been able to injure and subdue him to the point where he was at least temporarily not a threat. And then there was the eponymous Armageddon 2001 storyline, where Batman actually killed him.

The more experienced Batman would never underestimate a seemingly all-powerful alien, while Superman probably wouldn’t find any human adversary too intimidating. Superman is powerful, but Batman is DC’s answer to Sherlock Holmes. He’ll find any weakness to exploit, especially overconfidence.

1. Batman and Aquaman Were There All Along.

An alien force landing on one of the biggest cities on the planet doesn’t go unnoticed, especially by someone who has spent two decades or more as a vigilante withouteven being photographed. Bruce Wayne is one of the few who would have the money and resources to get himself to Metropolis when everything was going down.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a scene that not only recapped the fight between Superman and Zod, but also showed Batman ducking in and around the falling buildings, saving people who would have otherwise been crushed. All the while, he would be observing the abilities of the brawling aliens. Sound like something Batman would do?

As for Aquaman, he probably wasn’t there when Clark fell in from the collapsing oil platform. Instead, he was most likely in the Indian Ocean when Superman was taking out the World Maker. After destroying the machine, Kal-El was knocked out, and presumably fell into the ocean.

When he woke up, the sun was beating down on him. His face and suit were wet, but he wasn’t floating in the water. Something had to have placed him here.

No matter what happens, I’m going to agree with the estimates given last year by The Motley Fool that assume the film will sail past the $1 billion dollar mark. First of all, these are all marquee names. Take a list of the most recognizable super heroes, this movie has the top three playing big parts, with at least one or two more making a cameo. It’s going to smash the competition on brand recognition alone.

Throw in the fact that fans have been waiting to see these characters share the big screen for decades, and you have a whopping success on your hands.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 26, 2016. Will you be there on premiere night?

DWAYNE JOHNSON EXPLAINS WHY HE CHOSE BLACK ADAM ROLE OVER SHAZAM

From ComicBookResources.com

image.jpg

Confirming that yes, he was indeed given a choice between playing Black Adam or the title character in the upcoming "Shazam" film, Dwayne Johnson elaborates on why he opted to go with the less-than-pure Adam over the more straightforward superhero.

"All due respect to Shazam, Billy Batson, it's a mythology that I love, it's been with me for almost 10 years now," Johnson told Digital Spy. "I just inherently felt Black Adam was more interesting to me, because I felt like there were more layers to Black Adam, starting out as a slave and then ultimately becoming the anti-hero who we enjoy today."
